The Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile often simply called the triumphal arch, built from 1806 to 1836 on the orders of Napoleon is located in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, on the Place de l’Étoile, at the western end Avenue des Champs-Elysées, 2.2 miles from the place of Concorde.
From the air, we understand very quickly why that place was called “Place de l’Etoile” (place of star).
